DUPLIN COUNTY, situated in the southeasterly part of North Carolina. Area, 640 square miles. Surface level, or moderately hilly; soil, sterile. Seat of justice, Kenansville. Pop. in 1810, 7,863; in 1820, 9,744; in 1830, 11,373; in 1840, 11,182; in 1850, 13,514.
