In Philadelphia, a large railroad car factory suffers severe damage in a morning fire

An accidental but destructive morning fire hit the large railroad carriage factory of Kimball and Gorton at 21st and Hamilton Street in Philadelphia and burned for several hours.  The principal workshop where the fire started was completely destroyed and the adjoining blacksmith and paint shops.  The company, which had been in business since 1849 suffered losses estimated at around $30,000 but no-one was seriously injured.  (By John Osborne)
