Sparse attendance at a Douglas meeting in Wilmington, Delaware

Democratic supporters of Stephen Douglas called a meeting in Wilmington, Delaware to endorse their candidate.  The sparce attendance made it clear that the alternative Democratic ticket of Breckinridge and Lane were in the ascendancy in the state.  This proved to be the case in November when Douglas garnered less than 7% of the vote in Delaware while Breckinridge took the state with more than 45%.  (By John Osborne)
