Butcher, Solomon

Solomon Butcher was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania around 1844. He went on to become a member of Company A in the 25th United States Colored Troops Regiment. Butcher enlisted on January 4, 1864 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at age twenty. At that time, he was about five feet and eight inches tall with black hair and eyes. Butcher was discharged from the Union Army on December 6, 1865 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was buried in Chestnut Grove Annex Cemetery in West Chester, Pennsylvania. (By Brenna McKelvey)
