THE PONY EXPRESS. – Enemies of the Pony Express are again circulating rumors that it is likely to be discontinued so soon as winter sets in. The best evidence that no discontinuance is contemplated by the enterprising proprietors, is afforded by the fact that W. C. Marley has just returned from the duty of entirely re-stocking the western division of the route. On this entire 400 miles there are now a double set of ponies, each of which will alternatively run a month and rest one.
Mr. Marley, we learn, has accepted an appointment as superintendent of the western division of the Pony route, [illegible] Finnay. A more experienced and capable man could not have been selected. The announcements by our contemporaries, of the appointment of a Mr. Johnson to the position were erroneous.
