MORGAN COUNTY, situated in the southeasterly part of Ohio and traversed by Muskingum river. Area, 500 square miles. Face of the country broken and hilly; soil generally good. Seat of justice, McConnelsville. Pop. in 1820, 5,297; in 1830, 11,796; in 1840, 20,852; in 1850, 28,585.
