FAIRFIELD COUNTY, situated at the southwest corner of Connecticut, with Long lsland sound on the south. Area, 630 square miles. Face of the country diversified with hills and valleys; soil well cultivated and productive. Seats of justice, Fairfield and Danbury. Pop. in 1810, 40,950; in 1820, 42,739; in 1830, 46,950; in 1840, 49,917; in 1850, 59,775.
