WINDHAM COUNTY, situated at the southeast corner of Vermont, with Connecticut river on the east. Area, 780 square miles. Face of the country, hilly and broken; soil, generally good. Seat of justice, Fayetteville or Newfane. Pop. in 1810, 26,760; in 1820, 28,659; in 1830, 28,758; in 1840, 27,442; in 1850, 29,062.
