PERRY COUNTY, situated in the southeast part Mississippi, and traversed by Leaf river. Area, 1,044 square miles. Face of the country, hilly; soil, generally sterile. Seat of justice, Augusta. Pop. in 1820, 2,037; in 1830, 2,300; in 1840, 1,889; in 1850, 2,438.
