FRANKLIN COUNTY, situated toward the northerly part of Kentucky, and traversed by Kentucky river. Area, 200 square miles. Face of the country mountainous and hilly; soil fertile. Seat of justice, Frankfort. Pop. in 1810, 8,013; in 1820, 11,024; in 1830, 9,254; in 1840, 9,420; in 1850, 12,462.
