DALE COUNTY, situated on the south boundary of Alabama, and drained by tributaries of Choctawhatchie river. Area, 1,064 square miles. Face of the country generally level. The river swamps and hammocks are very productive, but the soil is mostly poor covered with pines. Seat of justice, Daleville. Pop. in 1830, 2,031; in 1840, 7,397; in 1850, 6,346.
