MONTGOMERY COUNTY, situated toward the southeast part of Alabama, with Alabama river on the northwest, and traversed by the Tallapoosa. Area, 900 square miles. Face of the country hilly; soil generally sterile. Seat of justice, Montgomery. Pop. in 1820, 6,604; in 1830, 12,694; in 1840, 24,574; in 1850, 29,711.
