CAMPBELL COUNTY, situated on the north boundary of Tennessee, on the northwest side of Clinch river. Area, 672 square miles. Face of the country hilly and mountainous; soil fertile in the valleys and along the streams. Seat of justice, Jacksborough. Pop. in 1820, 4,244; in 1830, 5,110; in 1840, 6,149; in 1850, 6,068.
