DAVIDSON COUNTY, situated in the northern part of Tennessee, and traversed by Cumberland river. Area, 640 square miles. Face of the country moderately hilly; soil generally fertile. Seat of justice, Nashville, which is also capital of the state. Pop. in 1820, 20,154; in 1830, 28,122; in 1840, 30,509; in 1850, 38,881.
