MERRIMACK COUNTY, situated toward the south part of New Hampshire, and traversed by Merrimack river. Area, 816 square miles. Face of the country, undulating and hilly; soil fertile. Seat of justice, Concord, which is also the state capital. Pop. in 1830, 34,619; in 1840, 36,253; in 1850, 40,377.
