STRAFFORD COUNTY, situated on the east boundary of New Hampshire with Salmon Falls river on the northeast. Area, 500 square miles. Face of the country, hilly or undulating; soil, good. Seat of justice, Dover. Pop. in 1810, 41,594; in 1820, 51,117; in 1830, 58,910; in 1840, 61,127; in 1850, 29,314.
