PICKENS DISTRICT, situated in the northwest corner of South Carolina, with Savannah river on the southwest. Area, 1,050 square miles. Face of the country hilly. Seat of justice, Pickens c. h. Pop. in 1830, 14,473; in 1840, 14,356; in 1850, 16,904.
