CHENANGO COUNTY, situated near the central part of New York, and watered by Chenango canal and the river of the same name. Area, 800 square miles. Face of the country generally hilly, with a productive soil. Seat of justice, Norwich. Pop. in 1820, 31,215; in 1830, 37,406; in 1840, 40,785; in 1850, 55,460.
