DELAWARE COUNTY, situated toward the southeast part of New York, with Delaware river on the southwest. Area, 460 square miles. Face of the country rough and hilly; soil fertile in the valleys. Seat of justice, Delhi. Pop. in 1820, 26,587; in 1830, 32,933; in 1840, 35,396; in 1850, 39,835.
