SULLIVAN COUNTY, situated on the southwesterly boundary of New York, with Delaware river on the southwest. Area, 919 square miles. Face of the country, broken and mountainous; soil, of middling quality. Seat of justice, Monticello. Pop. in 1810, 6,108; in 1820, 8,900; in 1830, 12,364; in 1840, 15,629; in 1850, 25,083.
