Headnote
HILLSBORO, The county seat of Jefferson county, Central township, is situated about four miles from the Iron Mountain Railroad, 30 miles from St. Louis, and about a hundred from Jefferson City. It was first settled by John Carver, in the year 1828, and contains one good school house, a Masonic lodge, viz: Joachim Lodge, No. 164, and a population of 100.
