Rev. R. Emory,
Dear Brother, you are aware that at the last cession of the Phil. [illegible] Conf- I was appointed to take charge of the Meth. Society in Accomao [illegible] State of Virginia. I am [illegible word] in the troubled regions-regions. And am called some-times to meet the Mob But I have succeeded in getting to preach at each appointment which I have attended. The citizens of Accomao have made great objections to the pieces written by Professor McClintock on the subject of Slavery. And the Chris Ad- & [illegible] has recently been committed to the flames in our Country Town because of those pieces- We also saw yesterday in the Balt. Sun on account of a riot in Carlisle, and Professor McClintock was charged with urging the negroes on to Comliat. Our enemies down here made a great handle of this report- I do not believe that brother McClintock could thus act. Will you be so kind as to give me some account of the riot and state what part Bro. McClintock took in it. By doing this you confer a favour on me, and serve the cause of [illegible]-With love.
