Cabell County, VA

CABELL COUNTY, situated on the northwest boundary of Virginia, on the southerly side of the Ohio river, and traversed by Guyandott river. Area, 100 square miles. The face of the country is mountainous, hilly, and rocky, well watered, wooded, and generally fertile. Seat of justice, Barboursville. Pop. in 1840, 8,163; in 1850, 6,299. (Fanning's, 1853)
