KERSHAW DISTRICT, situated toward the north part of South Carolina, and traversed by Wateree river. Area, 792 square miles. Face of the country pleasantly diversified; soil fertile. Seat of justice, Camden. Pop, in 1830, 13,545; in 1840, 12,181; in 1850, 14,473. (Fanning's, 1853)
