OXFORD COUNTY, situated on the west boundary of Maine, and traversed by the Androscoggin and Oxford and Cumberland canal. Area, 1,600 square miles. Face of the country, hilly; soil, of middling quality. Seat of justice, Paris. Pop. in 1810, 17,630; in 1820, 27,104; in 1830, 35,217; in 1840, 38,351; in 1850, 39,763. (Fanning's, 1853)
