ULSTER COUNTY, situated in the southeast part of New York, with Hudson river on the east. Area, 1,096 square miles. Face of the country, diversified and picturesque; soil, productive. Seat of justice, Kingston. Pop. in 1810, 26,576; in 1820, 30,934; in 1830, 36,550; in 1840, 45 822; in 1850, 58,936. (Fanning's, 1853)
