SAINT MARY'S COUNTY, situated in the south party of Maryland, with Chesapeake bay and Patuxent river on the northeast, and the Potomac on the southwest.  Area, 200 square miles.  Seat of justice, Leonardtown.  Pop. in 1810, 12,794; in 1820, 12,974; in 1830, 13,459; in 1840, 13,224; in 1850, 13,698.
