VIGO COUNTY, situated on the west boundary of Indiana river, with Wabash river on the west. Area, 400 square miles. Face of the country, diversified; soil, fertile. Seat of justice, Terre Haute. Pop. in 1820, 3,390; in 1830, 5,766; in 1840, 12,076; in 1850, 15,283. (Fanning's, 1853)
