Senator John Middleton Clayton, negotiator of the Clayton-Bulwer Treaty, dies in Delaware

Senator J. M. Clayton, the former Secretary of State under President Taylor who negotiated the treaty in 1850 with Sir Henry Lytton Bulwer concerning British and American interests in Central America, dies in Dover, Delaware at the age of sixty. (By John Osborne)
