FRANKLIN COUNTY, situated on the northerly boundary of Massachusetts, and traversed by Connecticut river. Area, 650 square miles. Face of the country agreeably diversified with mountains, hills, and valleys; soil generally fertile, on the streams rich and productive. Seat of justice, Greenfield.
