VERMILION COUNTY, situated on the west boundary of Indiana, with Wabash river on the east. Area, 280 square miles. Face of the country, undulating; soil, fertile. Seat of justice, Newport. Pop. in 1830, 5,692; in 1840, 8,274; in 1850, 8,661. (Fanning's, 1853)
