In Kentucky, Louisville and Nashville Railroad open their latest section between Louisville and Clarksville, Tennessee

The Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company completed the latest section of track on its Memphis Branch.  The new forty-six mile stretch enabled a special train that same day to run between Louisville and Clarksville, Tennessee and a celebratory dinner was held for 700 people there.  Regular service began on September 24, 1860 with the 64-mile run from Bowling Green, Kentucky to Clarksville taking three and a half hours.  (By John Osborne)
