DARLINGTON DISTRICT, situated toward tho northeast part of South Carolina, between Great Peedee river and Lynch's creek. Area, 1,050 square miles. Face of the country agreeably undulating; soil of middling quality. Seat of justice, Darlington. Pop. in 1820, 10,949; in 1830, 12,000; in 1840, 14,822; in 1850, 16,830.
