HAMILTON COUNTY, situated toward the northeasterly part of New York. Area, 1,064 square miles. Face of the country, mountainous, broken, and swampy. Soil, generally unproductive. Seat of justice, Lake Pleasant. Pop. in 1820, 1,251; in 1830, 1,324; in 1840, 1,907; in 1850, 2,188.
