The German-American gymnastics movement, the Turn Verein, holds a large festival in New York

A massive Turner Festival was held in New York City, with representatives  of Turn Verein from around the nation, from as far away as Madison, Wisconsin and Memphis, Tennessee.  The German- American gymnastics movement held meetings in the city and held competitions and displays in the neighboring Jones' Woods.
