The New York Yacht Club holds its annual regatta off the coast of Long Island

The sixteenth annual regatta of the New York Yacht Club was held with an ocean race on its usual course from Owl's Head , Long Island out to the lightship off the coast and back. The yachts Magic and Annie won the first and second prizes.   The Club had raced each year of the Civil War except 1861 when the regatta was suspended.  (By John Osborne)
