    LOCAL MATTERS

    SENTENCE OF THE RIOTERS – In the Orphan’s Court yesterday afternoon, after the ordinary business had been got through with, the colored men convicted of riot were brought into Court, and received from Judge Hepburn the following severe sentence.

    John Clellan, Jacob Garver, Moses Jones, Augustus [C/Goates?], Anothony Boon, John E. Gray, Achilles [Vandergrift?], Valentine Thomas, George Norman, Henry Myers and Chris Turner, each to three years solitary confinement in the Eastern Penitentiary.

    James Jones to six months imprisonment in our county jail.

    Eli Butler to ten days imprisonment in the county jail.
