Friday next, is the day fixed for hanging the two Harper’s Ferry conspirators, Hazlett and Stevens. Their counsel, Mr. Sennott made an argument before the Joint Committee of the Virginia Legislature, in the Senate Chamber, on Thursday, urging them to report in favor of recommending Gov. Letcher to reprieve his clients, Stevens and Hazlett. The Legislature has refused to make any recommendation, which leaves the whole responsibility with the Governor, who, it is understood, declines to interfere with the execution of the law.
