BALDWIN COUNTY, in the southwest part of Alabama, on the gulf of Mexico, with Tensaw and Alabama rivers on the west, and Perdido river on the east. Area, 200 square miles. The face of the country is hilly, and the soil generally thin, covered with pine forests, except along the streams, where it is highly fertile. Courts are held at Blakeley. Pop. in 1820, 1,713; in 1830, 2,334; in 1840, 2,951; in 1850, 4,414. (Fanning's, 1853)
