    19. A wet day. Received letters from Ma, Miss Jane S. & Nat Supter. Charming! Mrs. M. tells me of the diff. of the Jun. Class at Dick. Coll. Hope it will blow over. Geese! Talked more with Judge P. & lady on various subjects. They are sensible Freethinkers. She is a Unitarian. He agrees mostly with the Vestiges of Creation! We had some close talking. She sd. she was glad I had none of the usually "cant"!! It rained so much that I couldn't go to Sharp. St.
