26. Left early for Union. Got lost. Found one man there who came to invite me home to dine, Mr. West. There were some Negroes. I prayed with them & left. It is all aform to go away down there. Went down to Bro' Watkins': he was born 1769 - saw Washington: he laughed and rubbed his hand on my chin! I had a pleasant chat with him.
