Robert E. Lee appoints Edward Warren as Medical Inspector of the Department of Northern Virginia

Edward Warren was a North Carolinia doctor who had studied in Philadelphia and Paris.  He practiced with his father in Edenton, North Carolina, then taught at the University of Maryland.  Robert E. Lee appointed him medical inspector of  the Army of Northern Virginia, then he was Surgeon-General of North Carolina from 1862 to 1865.  In 1873 he became surgeon in chief of the Egyptian Army.  He moved on to Paris, opened a successful practice and died there in 1893.
