America's best trotting horses race in a three heat series at the Union Course on Long Island

Celebrated trotting horses, Flora Temple and George M. Patchen raced a three heat series before a crowd of more than ten thousand people at the Union Race Course on Long Island.  Flora Temple beat the stallion over all three races, breaking her own world record time in the process and winning the $1000 prize on offer.  The two trotters raced at the same course on June 12, 1860 with the male horse this time victorious.
