The Wide Awakes.
The regular weekly drill of the Lincoln Wide Awakes, under Captain Sturgis, took place last evening. The members are generally prompt in their attendance at these times, and have attained a proficiency enabling them to execute their movements with perfect military precision. Several new movements, particularly adapted to imposing display, have been introduced, and the corps will in a short time be in an efficient condition unsurpassed probably by any in the neighboring cities. The Wide Awakes have rendered good service since their organization, and their presence at meetings has given a “vim” to the occasion not afforded by anything else. A large number of young Republicans are already enrolled as members, and the accessions are constant. Arrangements have been made by which uniforms can be supplied as fast as needed, and there will be no further difficulty in that respect. Turn out for the Wide Awakes, and let the live Republican organization be worthy of the cause and the city.
