The Prince and his party had arrived by train from Pittsburgh the previous evening after a dining stop in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The royal party called on Governor William Packer and, riding in an open carriage through enthusiastic crowds, visited the state capitol and viewed the city from the dome. The Prince then left for Washington DC and the most important diplomatic segment of his visit to the United States. He arrived there at 6 p.m. (By John Osborne)
