Carter, Henry B.

Henry B. Carter was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania around 1838 and served in the United States Colored Troops during the Civil War. In February 1865 Carter joined Company E of the 24th USCT in Philadelphia. While promoted to corporal on February 26, 1865, Carter was reduced to ranks on April 30. Carter became a musician in August 1865, but two months later he was mustered out of service in Richmond, Virginia. (By Don Sailer)
