Jacob V. Saddler was born in New York around 1835 and served in the United States Colored Troops during the Civil War. According to his service records, Boyer worked as a laborer before he joined Company A of the 41st USCT in Morristown, Pennsylvania on September 5, 1864. Saddler became First Sergeant on October 14, 1864 and Sergeant Major in January 1865. In September 1865 Saddler’s term of service expired and he was discharged from the 41st USCT. (By Don Sailer)
