ATTALA COUNTY, situated in the central part of Mississippi, and drained by Black river and the head branches of Pearl river. Area, 720 square miles. Face of the country level; soil moderately fertile. Courts are held at Kosciusko. Pop., in 1840, 4,303; in 1850, 10,999.
