An annular eclipse of the Sun is visible over Europe and much of Asia and Africa.

An annular eclipse of the Sun was visible across most of Europe, North Africa, the MIddle East, and South Asia, with those in an 118 mile band that included Rome and Moscow experiencing a 98% obscuring of light of just under two minutes.  In London and other parts of western Europe the activity began just after eight on a morning beset with poor weather that cleared just in time for Londoners to see the moon passing over the Sun at around nine thirty.  (By John Osborne)
