KERSHAW DISTRICT, situated toward the north part of South Carolina, and traversed by Wateree river. Area, 792 square miles. Face of the country pleasantly diversified; soil fertile. Seat of justice, Camden. Pop, in 1830, 13,545; in 1840, 12,181; in 1850, 14,473.

HORRY DISTRICT, situated on the northeastern boundary of South Carolina, with the Atlantic on the southeast, and Little Pedee river on the west. Area, 1,000 square miles. GREENVILLE DISTRICT, situated on the northerly boundary of South Carolina, with Saluda river on the southwest. Area, 705 square miles. Face of the country, mountainous and diversified; soil, generally fertile and well cultivated. Seat of justice, Greenville. GEORGETOWN DISTRICT, situated on the eastern boundary of South Carolina, with Atlantic ocean on the southeast, and Santee river on the southwest. Area, 1,040 square miles. Face of the country level, and toward the coast, swampy soil of middling quality. Seat of justice, Georgetown. DARLINGTON DISTRICT, situated toward tho northeast part of South Carolina, between Great Peedee river and Lynch's creek. Area, 1,050 square miles.
